I finally got around to watching Thor tonight.
I must admit I’m a sucker for the Marvel and DC movies. I can’t help it! I just think they’re cool!
I didn’t know much about Thor, the mythological character or the superhero, so everything was new and quite interesting. Mythology is kind of fun, anyway. Plus, the place wherever the gods live is so pretty! Loved the architecture and scenery. Other words fascinate me. Oh, and I love Natalie Portman in any role, but she makes a really great superhero damsel in distress love interest. The theory that the god of thunder has a huge hammer seemed kind of cheesy at first, but when I saw it in action, I immediately wanted to become a lesbian so I can have a hammer of my own.
There were scenes where the audio was just really loud and perhaps it was done to give a realistic effect of what it might be like if you were there in person….or you know, the theater I went to needs to get its act together. Either way, entertaining movie and funnier than I expected. Check it out!
I recently watched Rio and I thought it was adorable!
It has the familiar wholesome message that we seek in family films and was still funny and relevant. Cute characters, cute musical numbers, and cute story. I think I’m going to download the soundtrack, too. If you haven’t seen it, check it out.
My favorite music number was “Fly Love.” (sigh)
I feel like visiting Rio….and flying…..all while wearing blue. DONE.
A few weeks ago I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Oh. My. Goodness.
I have to start by saying that I haven’t read the books, so all I have to go by are the previous movies. Wow. This movie was definitely different than the other movies. The general tone and attitude of the movie felt more mature and guided the audience thought the restlessness and yearning that some of the characters felt. I almost felt like I lost a sense of time. It’s funny, it’s slightly frightening, it’s sad, it’s great. So needless to say, I enjoyed the movie and I know the next movie will have plenty of bang and resolution where everything magically falls into place.
Who will win? Harry or Voldemort?! Find out July 2011 when the second installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows premieres. Can’t wait!
I found some really great movie posters for this film. Check ’em out:
I got a chance to watch The Last Exorcism earlier last week and I was excited to watch. I like movies about the supernatural and specifically about possessions or exorcisms. I think it’s mainly because I’m such a skeptic when it comes to those things that I’m really drawn to movies about the supernatural. It’s almost like I’m challenging them to make me a believer. Well, with Eli Roth & Strike’s The Last Exorcism, I believed.
It’s filmed like a documentary and there’s such a realistic quality to the storytelling, specially in the beginning. It’s a gradual process in which the viewer begins to question what’s going on and tries to put the pieces together, trying to make sense of everything. It wasn’t very gory or overly scary, it’s rated PG-13, but it’s a fun movie to watch.
I’d for sure recommend it. It’s a good exorcism movie. Not too terribly predictable. Entertaining, for sure.
Will you become a believer?
So I finally got a chance to watch Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Yes, I know it’s a majorly nerdy/geeky movie with comic book stylization but I thought it was fun and it definitely catered to very specific group of people out there. I’m talking to you, Nintendo/video game junkies. Some of the scenes felt like I was reading a comic book. I thought it had great visuals and strong visual accents.
I liked all the characters. Scott Pilgrim is the epitome of that douchey insecure guy who you can’t help but like. Knives: love her! She’s cute and I found her very funny. I even liked the seven evil exes. Ex #3, Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh), was especially sexy.
This movie is kind of epic. I can totally see it becoming a cult classic.
If you like comic books, or video games, or superheroes, or anything nerdy like this, I’m sure you’ll love this movie. (There was a lot of geek fanfare on FaceBook when the movie first came out.) Even if you’re a closeted nerd…ahem…it’s worth the outing.
[I’ve included some cool posters of the seven evil exes that I found. Check ’em out!]
Yesterday I finally got a chance to watch Inception. I have been wanting to watch this movie for a while. I was fascinated by the previews of the movie in the trailers and, actually, right after watching the first trailer my immediate thought was, “Damn, why wasn’t I cast in this movie?!” lol It just looks so cool! Visually stunning and such an intriguing idea.
I thought Leonardo DiCaprio did a great job as the leading man. I believed him. I was very pleased with the casting. To my surprise, Ellen Page wasn’t awkward or goofy or quirky at all. I thought her performance showed versatility and I think that’ll work in her favor. Plus, she’s super-cute! (Am I right, lesbians?) Yeah, for some reason the lesbians LOVE Ellen Page.
I thought the idea of dream layers were very cool and I found the action scenes to be quite suspenseful. I felt the acting was great and the directing was also great. There was a certain elegance to the photography. I just thought it was beautiful in all it’s weirdness. After hearing feedback from a few people, I was concerned I might feel confused after watching the movie, but it wasn’t very confusing at all. Everything made sense and I liked the ending. I felt like the director was flirting with me. lol
If you haven’t seen it already, you should check it out. One of the best movies I’ve watched this year.
[Here are a few other movie posters for the film that I found cool]
So I’ve seen the preview for Angelina Jolie’s upcoming film Salt for a while now and I’m so excited! I think Angelina is a great actress and like I’ve mentioned before I’m just a fan of strong female leads, especially when they’re kicking ass!
If it were a man, say…Tom Cruise playing the role, I’d probably still find it cool, but it wouldn’t stand out as a movie I’d be very interesting in watching. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the Mission Impossible, James Bond, and Bourne movies, but there’s something so cool about a strong woman in power handing over someone’s ass to them. So yay for Salt!
Plus, I know that cutie Liev Schreiber is in it, too. He’s so handsome. Okay…let’s watch this.
